Would you like to be part of a busy kitchen leading a team to provide each day a high quality, freshly prepared hot dinner for the children and staff within our amazing primary schools? If so, we are wishing to recruit a Chef to be based within the Exeter area to join the existing team of Chefs and the wider catering team who work across all our schools.
We require an experienced and qualified Chef to predominantly manage the dining service offered to a local chain of Nursery providers. Our well-renowned dining service provides good, home cooked food prepared with lots of fresh products from local suppliers. It is served in our ‘family dining’ approach where older children serve younger children which creates a nurturing environment that values the dining experience. The menu is designed and delivered across all the schools in the Trust. We also cook for two other local schools, as well as for the local nurseries. You will be supported by the Head Chef and the wider catering team to provide high quality meals which are served to pupils and staff daily. We are keen to grow this number by encouraging all children to have a cooked dinner each day.
The successful candidate will need to not only be a great chef but have a love of supporting children and be able to lead a team, be flexible, dependable, and creative. We wish to employ someone who enjoys good food and will embrace the school’s aim to deliver a ‘family dining’ experience, and ensure we deliver the highest quality of seasonal food served fresh to the table. You will need to be able to hear and respond positively to feedback, especially from children who ‘rate what they ate’ each day.
The post is based at Countess Wear in Exeter during term time, and likely to be at Westclyst Primary School during the school holidays.
This is a permanent all year round position as the Nurseries open for 52 weeks a year. Hours can be discussed at interview but initially it is for 6 hours per day all year. You will be entitled to 28 days annual leave. The day begins at 8.00am and finishes at 2.00pm. The actual salary for a 6 hour day will be in the region of £18,700.
