TCAT Junior Librarians

Children across Year 5 and 6 at Cornerstone have been given the opportunity to apply to be Junior Librarians. They listened to a talk from their school librarian about the job and then wrote a letter of application. The children were then interviewed and answered questions about why they wanted the role. Mrs Kingdom (The Yeo Valley Librarian) said "It is brilliant to have the help. They are enthusiastic. They have come into the library and are eager to learn the skills and have a go at everything." Mrs Kingdom then went on to say that, in the applications one child wrote that they wanted to be a librarian because the library is a great place to meet and make new friends. Many children applied to be librarians and are now regularly helping out in the library.
The library is a calm and quiet place where you can talk to the librarians about anything. For example, you can talk about any problems you may be having. The Year 5 and 6 children are also there to help you to reach books on the top shelves and can help to solve lots of problems. They have been working hard to learn new skills and are now able to check the books in and our using the computers. Visit your school library now to meet your friendly team of Junior Librarians!
