Trustee Vacancy - Finance Specialism

Cornerstone  Academy  Trust are  wanting  to  recruit  to a  vacancy on  the  main  trustee  board  and finance committee for an Accountancy/Finance specialist.

About the Trust

Cornerstone Academy Trust in Devon is a forward looking, agile multi academy trust where like-minded  schools  can  collaborate  and  develop  in  a  local,  supportive  learning  environment  with distinctive, extended curriculum opportunities.

Broadclyst Community Primary School (Ofsted Outstanding), which became one of the first Academies in the UK in 2010, was the first school in the Trust, and the Trust then opened Westclyst Community Primary School in September 2016. Westclyst, whilst temporarily based on the BCPS site, achieved an Ofsted Outstanding grading on its initial inspection in 2019 and the school then moved to its  permanent  position  in  the  heart  of  Westclyst in September 2019,  occupying  a state-of-the-art building.

The  Trust expanded  further  in  January  2019  when  Yeo Valley  Primary  School in  Barnstaple  joined  the  MAT  as part  of  a  sponsorship  agreement. In September 2020 the Trust opened  another  Primary  School  in  Monkerton  just outside  of  Exeter.  The  Trust  is  also  a  Teaching  School,  as  well  as  being  a  Science  Learning Partnership and an English Hub, providing conferences and learning opportunities for its own staff as well as other schools in the local area and beyond. We are also a designated EdTech Demonstrator.

The Role

We  are  looking  for  a  person/people  to  work  with  us  who  share  our  ethos  and  commitment  to excellence.  The  applicant  should have  a current  recognised  accountancy  qualification (ACCA,  CIMA, CIPFA  etc).  Experience  of  working  in  the  education  sector  is  not  essential  but  would  be  beneficial.

Finance meetings are held on a Monday night at Broadclyst School from 5-8pm once a month and the Full Trust Board normally  meets  on the  second  Tuesday  of  the  month  from  7pm.  The  commitment would be for around 6 hours per month of meetings with preparation time beforehand. The applicant would  need  to  have  a  full  DBS  check.  This  is  an  exciting  opportunity  to  be  part  of  a  multi-award-winning team that serves to provide an education standard “a cut-above” the rest.
