Countess Wear Primary School joined the Cornerstone Academy Trust in September 2024. Prior to this, the October 2022 inspection of the school found that the quality of education, leadership and management, behaviour and attitudes, and early years provision all required improvement.
Over the past year, since becoming part of the Trust, we have made many positive changes through a significant investment in improving the quality of education for the children. This has entailed a rapid journey of providing new leadership, the implementation of a new and exciting curriculum, a new approach to the teaching of phonics, a new library and every child having their own digital device to access many learning tools to support their education.
Additionally we have been upgrading facilities. There are new dining facilities delivering our family dining and refurbished school hall for the daily assemblies, PE lessons and extra curricular activities. These investments support our commitment to raising standards and creating a learning environment where every child can thrive.
We believe that under the Trust’s guidance and with the school community’s commitment, Countess Wear can build on its foundation, improve outcomes, and become the kind of school that families are proud to choose. We are transparent about the past and excited about the future.
