About Us

Countess Wear School is very much a community school on the outskirts of Topsham in Exeter, Countess Wear offers 210 places including a nursery to accommodate children between the ages of 2 and 11.  With a spacious building and vast grounds the school offers dedicated art, cooking, music, library and science rooms.  The school also has a purpose built Forest School with impressive outdoor provision.

The School joined Cornerstone Academy Trust in September 2024.  The Trust has developed a local, national and international reputation for its innovative use of IT and digital media and is transforming the classroom experience through the incorporation of Microsoft technology, enhancing student-centred learning to achieve better outcomes for all pupils. Staff members focus on delivering personalised learning experiences that empower students to be independent and creative learners, whilst building skills that will prepare them for the future.

Digital tools are going to be a critical part of your child’s future. Whether your child is using a computer to edit a video, a waterproof device to collect data outdoors, or developing literacy, free thinking, creative and communication skills. The ethos of CWPS will be to use the technology alongside excellent teaching to provide an outstanding education, packed with opportunity. However, balance is very important in education, as in all areas of life. The children will also play and learn outdoors as well as in sports teams and they will have the chance to sing in a choir, play a musical instrument and learn to cook.

Tim Cook – Head of Schools
“Together we stride, believing in our dreams, supporting one another, and making our schools places where anything is possible. As S Club 7 said, we will keep reaching for the stars – with hope, community and kindness.”
