Empowering Students to Create, Communicate, and Inspire
TV Studio
Our professionally equipped TV studios at Broadclyst provide an exciting opportunity for students across all Trust schools, accessible via our fleet of minibuses. These studios are fitted with two HD cameras, lighting, and green-screen technology, allowing children to film as if on location in their videos.
Access to this advanced equipment offers children a unique chance to create and film live news, documentaries, or other TV programmes related to the curriculum, school trips, or special visitors. A standout example of this is the sustainability documentaries produced in the studio, where students explore environmental issues and how they impact our world.

All children who use the studio are involved in the creation and presentation of their programme. As they progress through school, they also get hands-on experience with the technical aspects of filmmaking, learning everything from camera basics to sound, lighting, shot types, interview techniques, storyboarding, editing, and adding special effects.
Scripts are researched, planned, and written in the classroom, tied to various topics, projects, or subjects, enhancing learning across the curriculum. This process also offers an excellent platform to develop creative writing, reading, speaking, listening, and presentation skills.

Previous programs recorded include Weekly CTV News, advertisements for the Global Enterprise Challenge, historical re-enactments at local National Trust properties, and resources for classroom and assembly use. In the studio, groups of children set up their shows, rehearse, and then perform in front of the cameras. At the end of each session, the footage is edited by staff or older children, with titles, credits, special effects, and music added. The finished programmes are uploaded to Clickview and our secure video streaming service, where parents can view them with a login.
