"My Secret"

I’m heading to grandma’s house tearing up a bit, but still, have a minor spark of excitement. My head is undergoing lovely memories of me and grandma. Sadly, she passed away a couple of months ago and I’m going to clear her home with dad. “Are you ready?” He asks me as we halt to a stop. “Yes Dad.” I look to the right; I see that we are here. I get out the car and my dad gets the keys out of his pocket. The door opens, there is a massive screeching noise; it hurt my ears. The house looks exactly like it was when I used to come here. The walls covered in the same forest tone of green. The cabinet where she stored all her spices. Everything was in the same spot; however, it looked like it got dumped with dust. Dad led me to the attic; I climbed up the ladder to the attic and turned on the lights. Dad asked, “Is everything okay Luka?”

“Yes, I can handle it.” I told him. My nose tickled from the dust. My dad proceeded downstairs. I put my hands on my hips, I looked around to see what I should start with first. I see a box.

I open the box; it holds a Game Boy. The Game Boy had Mario Kart and Tetris. I investigate the box finding old board games I have never heard of. Out of nowhere, a golden light was filling the box. Beams of light came bursting out of the box. I cover my eyes with my arm; I crawl back, frightened. It was blinding me. It finally stops. I looked around. My heart racing. I’m on a glass platform. There is humungous screen in front of me with void around. I don’t know what is happening I shout, “Dad! Can you hear me? Please! Help!” Something happens on the screen. I get frightened after some keys indicating left and right appear in front of me. Something begins on the screen. I realise it’s a game, Tetris. This might be the only way to go back to the attic I pondered.

A block descends. I place it into the corner. Another block comes descending down and I place it down beside the other. After playing for a couple minutes, I start losing hope. I hear a voice in my head. Whose voice is this I wondered. “You can do this Luka trust me I will always be here, in your heart, to help you.” I smiled and gave a little laugh of happiness. It was Grandma. I love her. I regained my hope. I place another block; the screen said new high score. The keypad disappeared with a pop. Everything started glowing exactly like how I came here. I cover my eyes and then the light faded away, I opened my eyes. I’m in the attic. The same place where I left. I’m overjoyed that I’m back. That’s my secret.

"A Tragic Event"

Haylo glanced at her older sister, Zara, her eyes narrowed. “Haylo? I, um, wait never mind.” what? She thought. what is she hiding? Zara stared awkwardly, as if trying to say, ‘you really thing I would hide something from my beloved, precious sister?’ She could almost hear her saying that in a mock tone. Why is she always so mean to me? “Haylo, you have to go outside for a moment.” she spluttered.

“No!” Haylo yelled defiantly. “Well…I’ll only go outside ‘for a moment’ is you tell me why! You never let me know anything.” Zara had a hurt expression on her face. “Oh, but you’re my darling little sister! Are you even loyal to me? Oh, I feel so betrayed!” Haylo rolled her eyes. One day I really need to stand up to her, she thought miserably as she grasped her bright green coat and stormed out into the rain. A few minutes passed, then hours, until she had been out for almost a day! Surely, she would have told me to come in if SHE were in…right? She grabbed the handle and pulled. Locked. Climbed over to the front door. Locked. The downstairs window. Locked. How will I get in? as she made her way to the front, she realised that her 24-year-old sister’s car wasn’t there. Wait…she thought. Where’s Mira? Her other sister, who was also nine, was gone. Oh, there she is. “Mira!” she called. “Haylo! I’m over here!” Mira shouted, her brown hair flowing in the breeze. She trotted over in her florescent, yellow boots.

“Mira, sis is gone.” Mira’s eyes widened. “I know, Haylo. We must find her.” Haylo staggered back. “What?” she spluttered, but she knew exactly what she meant. A few minutes passed, and by that time Mira had convinced Haylo to look for Zara. After half an hour, they set out, walking near and far. “Mira, there’s no hope…” her sister just ignored. As the continued trekking through forests, lakes, rivers, mountains, Haylo’s phone rang. “Hello, miss H. Hasburn, we have important news we wish to tell you.” Haylo’s mind whirred. What could be so bad that the hospital receptionist had to call? “Go on…” she edged further.

“I’m afraid that your sister, miss Zara hasburn, has passed away in a tragic car accident. A car hit the railings on the motorway, and one of the pieces of metal broke her windscreen and…” Haylo didn’t need to know anymore. “When’s the funeral?” she hissed.  the hotel receptionist spoke, her voice cracking. “Three hours ago.” Haylo was furious. “What!” she roared. “She left you a voicemail. And I-I’m sorry. I’ll leave you to grieve alone. Good wishes!” her sadness gave way to fury. however annoying her sister was, she loved her with all her heart. “I must find that car!” as she said that, a blue Mercades whizzed past her, a broken windscreen, metal poking through the door and a damaged bumper. “that’s the one,” she whispered. “that’s the one.”

"Big Feelings"

There once was a kind girl, who had the biggest heart. She was loved by all her friends and family, but she struggled with her feelings. When she felt happy, angry, sad or frustrated, she didn’t know how best to express herself. She just wanted to be happy. She felt like she had lots of emojis controlling her emotions. She spoke to mummy and daddy about it, who spoke to her teacher and they tried to help her, but it felt like it wasn’t working. She wrote all of her feelings down in a feelings journal to help her feel better, and this started to work. Finally, she started to feel better!

The End

"The Cat and the Beast"

Once upon a time there was a cat that saw a castle. It walked towards it and it went in it. When it went in it there was a big monster! The monster gave the cat a flower. And then the beast hugged the cat. Then she had a little nap on a white shiny bed. When the cat woke up he ate a little bit of cat food. Then she went to the shop to buy some water to have for a drink and when she had the water, the cat wanted milk. The cat had milk and had another nap. The cat saw another castle and it was an ice castle.
