Post Title: Website & Digital Content Officer
Reporting To: PR and Digital Media Manager

Main Purpose
- Support in creating visually appealing, user-friendly, and accessible websites that serve as a digital gateway to our school communities and the wider educational environment.
- Ensure consistency across digital platforms, maintaining high standards of design, functionality, and compliance.
Duties and responsibilities
Website management and development
- Take day-to-day responsibility for maintaining and developing the Trust’s websites.
- Create and update pages, landing pages, news, events and other website content.
- Work primarily with WordPress and Elementor, using plugins and existing functionality to create engaging digital experiences.
- Identify opportunities to improve website structure, navigation, content and user experience.
- Plan and develop new website sections and digital projects from initial idea through to completion.
- Ensure website content is accurate, accessible, engaging and aligned with the Trust’s brand and communications.
- Manage and develop the staff and student intranet using Microsoft SharePoint and wider Microsoft 365 tools.
- Use HTML and CSS, and where appropriate JavaScript, to make content and layout improvements.
- Support website accessibility and SEO, ensuring content is easy to find, understand and use.
Digital content creation
- Create compelling, well-written digital content that brings the Trust’s work, schools, programmes and initiatives to life.
- Use storytelling to bring together words, photography, video and other visual content, creating engaging narratives that capture attention and communicate a clear message.
- Develop content that goes beyond simply presenting information, considering how a story should be told, what the audience needs to understand and how writing and imagery can work together to achieve the desired impact.
- Adapt writing style, tone and content for different audiences, platforms and purposes, from informative website pages to engaging stories about pupils, schools and Trust initiatives.
- Plan and create photography, video and other visual content to support campaigns, projects and website development.
- Edit images and video into content ready to use across websites, social media and other digital platforms.
- Identify what type of content will work best for different audiences and platforms.
- Work with staff and pupils to gather stories, information, photography and other content.
- Develop content plans for specific projects and campaigns, ensuring that content is created and delivered at the right time.
- Support the wider PR and Marketing Manager with creative ideas and digital campaigns.
- Provide photography support for events, school activities, staff ID photos and marketing projects.
- Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with practical application in website development.
- Ideally, experience with PHP to support custom WordPress functionality.
- Understanding of web hosting, DNS, and domain management is highly desirable.
- Awareness of responsive design principles, page load optimisation, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and suggest improvements to web infrastructure.
- Strong layout and visual design skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to create visually appealing, consistent, and accessible graphics and page layouts.
- Understands UX/UI principles and can apply them to improve the user experience.
- Experience creating reusable templates and assets to streamline content creation.
- Use IT tools effectively to produce high-quality materials that support school objectives.
- Support wider marketing and communications strategies, contributing creative input for campaigns and events.
- Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils and staff and report any concerns to the appropriate person.
- Participate in the school’s appraisal procedures and ongoing professional development.
- Seek opportunities to improve technical, creative, and organisational skills.
- Contribute to the appraisal and professional development of colleagues where appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and visitors, using IT systems efficiently to collaborate.
- Respond promptly to emails, calls, and messages.
- Explain technical information clearly to non-technical staff.
