Post Title: Minibus Driver
Responsible To: Trust Business Manager
Salary Grade Range: Cornerstone Support Pay Scale
The bus driver will:
- To transport pupils to and from school in the mornings and afternoons, as well as during the day for trips and activities
Duties and responsibilities
Bus Driving
- Transport children to and from school in the morning and afternoons following the agreed timetables.
- Transport children and staff for trips and activities
- Always maintain a clean and mechanically sound minibus. Performing vehicle checks of the minibus before and after each use.
- Obey all traffic laws.
- Check pupil registers prior to departure. Where discrepancies are identified, work with the School reception teams to verify and resolve.
- Ensure safety of all students, setting clear expectations around behaviour whilst travelling on the bus. Disciplining and addressing behavioural issues as necessary and escalating to the Senior Leadership Team, as necessary.
- Assist students with getting on and off the bus.
- Ensure the Trust is aware of any changes to your driving licence regarding expiry dates, convictions, or health matters.
- Ensure pupils are released in a safe way to their parents or carers as appropriate.
- Refuelling the vehicle if necessary.
Whole-school organisation, strategy and development
- Support the bus service to provide an efficient service for the children and their parents.
Health, safety, and discipline
- Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils and staff and report any concerns to the appropriate person.
- Ensure any defects or damage which may occur to the minibus are reported to the Trust Business Manager.
- Be aware of traffic laws and always comply with them.
Professional development
- Attend minibus driver training as required.
- Take part in further training and development to improve own professional development and personal effectiveness.
Communication
- Communicate effectively with other staff members, children, and parents, as necessary.
Working with colleagues and other relevant professionals
- Develop effective relationships with the other bus drivers and teaching staff.
Personal and professional conduct
- Uphold public trust in the profession and maintain high standards of ethics and behaviour, within and outside school.
- Have proper and professional regard for the ethos, policies, and practices of the school, and maintain high standards of attendance and punctuality.

- Use resources in an effective and efficient way ensuring they are maintained to a high standard and looked after responsibly.
Other Information
- Hours and times of work may be varied at any time in accordance with pupil numbers to meet the needs of the school. Some flexibility to provide support at short notice.
