Post Title: Web Designer & Content Creator

Main Purpose
- Support in creating visually appealing, user-friendly, and accessible websites that serve as a digital gateway to our school communities and the wider educational environment.
- Ensure consistency across digital platforms, maintaining high standards of design, functionality, and compliance.
Duties and responsibilities
- Design and develop responsive, engaging WordPress-based school websites, including building sites from scratch.
- Support the migration of the English Hub website from Joomla to WordPress.
- Manage and develop the staff and student internet – using Microsoft SharePoint and the wider Microsoft 365 tools.
- Create content taking high quality photos and footage which is then edited into usable images and videos using tools such as Adobe Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
- Provide support with photography of events, staff ID photos, and marketing materials where required.
- Collaborate with staff to gather content, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure website compliance with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA).
- Implement SEO best practices to enhance online visibility.
- Maintain and update websites regularly with news, events, and updates.
- Solid knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, with practical application in website development.
- Ideally, experience with PHP to support custom WordPress functionality.
- Understanding of web hosting, DNS, and domain management is highly desirable.
- Awareness of responsive design principles, page load optimisation, and cross-browser compatibility.
- Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and suggest improvements to web infrastructure.
- Strong layout and visual design skills with a keen eye for detail.
- Ability to create visually appealing, consistent, and accessible graphics and page layouts.
- Understands UX/UI principles and can apply them to improve the user experience.
- Experience creating reusable templates and assets to streamline content creation.
- Use IT tools effectively to produce high-quality materials that support school objectives.
- Support wider marketing and communications strategies, contributing creative input for campaigns and events.
- Promote the safety and wellbeing of pupils and staff and report any concerns to the appropriate person.
- Participate in the school’s appraisal procedures and ongoing professional development.
- Seek opportunities to improve technical, creative, and organisational skills.
- Contribute to the appraisal and professional development of colleagues where appropriate.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, and visitors, using IT systems efficiently to collaborate.

- Explain technical information clearly to non-technical staff.
