We had a wonderful time celebrating World Book Day last week, with our school filled with the excitement of stories, creativity and a fantastic range of book characters.
Children and staff fully embraced the spirit of the day, arriving in brilliant costumes inspired by some much-loved books. We spotted characters from Harry Potter, the colourful world of Mr. Men and Little Miss, the deliciously mischievous world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and several characters from The Midnight Gang. It was wonderful to see favourite stories brought to life around the school as pupils celebrated their love of reading.
World Book Day is always a special occasion in school, encouraging children to explore new books, share stories and celebrate the joy that reading brings.
500 Words Story Competition
A particular highlight of the celebrations was recognising the winners of our 500 Words Story Competition. The standard of writing was incredibly high, and the winning stories were shared and enjoyed by the whole school.
The competition showcased the imagination, creativity and storytelling talent of our pupils, with children producing fantastic original stories inspired by their favourite books and ideas.

Author Visits Inspire Young Readers
As part of our World Book Day celebrations, we were delighted to welcome two visiting authors to the school.
Author Justin Anderson spent time with pupils in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6, sharing his experiences as a writer and inspiring children with his stories, creativity and enthusiasm for storytelling.
Our younger pupils in Nursery, Reception and Years 1 and 2 enjoyed a fantastic session with Kev Payne, who brought stories to life through his engaging and imaginative presentation.
Author visits are a wonderful way to encourage children to develop their creativity, explore storytelling and strengthen their love of books.
A Week Celebrating Reading
The celebrations extended across the week with themed art sessions and a variety of activities designed to inspire a love of reading and storytelling.
It has been a truly joyful week, reminding us of the magic that stories bring and the importance of nurturing a lifelong love of books and reading.
