Art Teacher  

based in Exeter 

This is an exciting time to join us at Cornerstone Academy Trust with its schools based on the edge of Exeter in East Devon and in the coastal town of Barnstaple in North Devon. Due to the expansion of the Academy Trust with new year groups opening at the new schools of Westclyst and Monkerton, we are wishing to recruit a dedicated and professional Art Teacher who will direct and organise the delivery of art for children of all ages across the Trust. You will work closely with the Creative Arts Lead and provide support and leadership to the art teaching assistants working within the Trust.

We are seeking to employ someone who is a qualified Teacher who has a sound and demonstrable knowledge of art as a curriculum subject, including well known artists, and to be able to use different art techniques skilfully and creatively to an excellent standard. You will be responsible for leading groups of children and will take pride in teaching children to achieve highly within the arts and so will be involved in monitoring their performance and progress. We want our teachers to embrace the ethos of teaching a knowledge rich, purposeful, and project-based curriculum, through the meaningful use of technology. To be successful, you must demonstrate that you are willing to teach innovatively and reflectively, as well being prepared to collaborate with teams of colleagues. You must also be open to delivering high quality lessons and projects in a way that blends physical and digital learning environments, through video calling and online resources. The successful candidate will be keen to support and build on the international reputation that the school has for digitally integrated teaching. 

The post is available from January 2022 and is a permanent position. The working hours are 40 per week, starting at 8.30am, finishing at 5.00pm, with a 30-minute lunch break.  

You will have access to the teacher’s pension scheme, a health scheme, a cycle to work scheme and subsidised meals in our staff café with food cooked and served by our own chefs. Successful candidates will be provided with state-of-the-art IT equipment and will work in modern, digitally enabled classrooms where children have access to 1:1 to a Microsoft Surface device. To enable teachers to become the best they can be, we support them with a weekly an investment in their professional development through training and there is a good performance management process, where accelerated progress is payable to those who achieve highly. For NQT’s we provide a weekly programme with specialist support from an NQT programme leader, a mentor and with inputs delivered by experienced teachers.

KS1 Teacher - Required January

2 x Catch - Up & Tutoring Teachers - Required January 2022

We are responsible for a number of Department for Education ‘centres of excellence’, working with other teachers and schools across the country to provide professional development and support with school improvement strategies.

We are wishing to appoint two teachers to support in implementing and carrying out a programme of ‘catch-up’ and tutoring post pandemic. We want teachers who are willing to embrace the ethos of teaching a knowledge rich, purposeful, and project-based curriculum, through the meaningful use of technology. To be successful, you must demonstrate that you are willing to teach innovatively and reflectively, as well being prepared to collaborate with teams of colleagues. You must also be open to delivering high quality lessons and projects in a way that blends physical and digital learning environments, through video calling and online resources. The successful candidate will be keen to support and build on the international reputation that the school has for digitally integrated teaching. You will work across all year groups, although more likely with children in KS2, to support the children in whole classes, groups or on a 1 to 1 basis. Whilst it is expected that you will take a lead on delivering the catch-up lessons, you will at times cover existing classes to allow other teaching staff to lead on specific aspects of the ‘catch-up’ programme.
