Early Years Teacher- YVPS

The Cornerstone Academy Trust is responsible for Broadclyst, Westclyst and Yeo Valley Primary Schools and will be opening another new school in the Monkerton area of Exeter. It utilises its Academy freedoms to deliver an enriched and exciting project-based, problem-solving curriculum.

Now is an exciting time to become part of the Yeo Valley team, as well as the wider Cornerstone staff.

We are looking to recruit an Early Years Teacher with either QTS or EY Teacher Status. Required for September 2019, to be based in our 20 place Nursery class. The EYP will manage the day to day organisation of the class and work closely with your wider peer network which will include the Early Years Lead Teacher, the EY Teachers at our other schools, as well as the local Nursery Plus team which is based at Yeo Valley.

We are looking for an inspiring and professionally thoughtful candidate who must be able to use a range of teaching styles and appropriate strategies to meet the needs of all children. To be the successful candidate you will need to have good experience of working in the Early Years, have an excellent knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and be both creative and passionate about learning. You must have high expectations for children’s outcomes in relation to the Early Learning Goals and be confident to lead a team of Early Years Practitioners to deliver those outcomes.

You will be part of a strong trust-wide EYFS team that work together to create a high-quality provision from 2 – 5 years of age. Our schools offer an exciting, extended and enriched curriculum and expect all practitioners to fully engage in the provision of this, through the use of the outdoors and in the extended day with the wide range of after-school activities that we offer. You will also be expected to use ICT in a fully integrated way as a tool to support your planning, teaching, tracking of the curriculum and in the activities within the classroom to support the children’s development.

The successful candidate will be provided with state-of-the-art IT equipment to help them fulfil their duties and will work in a modern and well-equipped successful nursery. As an employer we offer our employees access to the local government pension scheme, a health scheme, a cycle to work scheme, as well as subsidised meals.

Visits to the school are welcome by prior arrangement. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Hours of work are 8.30am to 5.30pm on a Monday, with a 3.30pm finish Tuesday to Friday. In addition, a further 2 hours will be worked according to need during the week. You will work 40 weeks per year being term time plus 2 weeks.

The salary for this position will depend on your status and experience and will be discussed at interview.

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for this post.

We are looking for the candidate to start in September and will therefore be interviewing during the holiday period as and when suitable candidates apply.

Deputy Nursery Leader

The Cornerstone Academy Trust is responsible for Broadclyst, Westclyst and Yeo Valley Primary Schools. With the existing Broadclyst Nursery going from strength to strength, and the brand-new Nursery at Westclyst Primary School opening in September, this is an exciting time to join the Trust.

We are recruiting an extended team to help deliver outstanding early years provision at both locations. Initially opening as a 40-place setting, the Westclyst Nursery will eventually grow to accommodate 60 children per session. We already offer wrap around provision from 8am until 6pm at Broadclyst, and this will be replicated at Westclyst. We also have ambitions to offer an all year-round service, not just term time only. Both settings will offer education from 2 years old.

Therefore, we are seeking to recruit a dedicated and professional Deputy Nursery Leader to work with and alongside our Nursery Leader and the Early Years team to support children in all areas of the curriculum. The successful candidate will have additional responsibilities specifically around: the continuous provision, group teaching time, timetabling and an added staff management responsibility. We are looking for a minimum of 3 days per week, but welcome applications from those seeking 4 or 5 days too.

Due to the increased responsibility that this role requires we will be ideally looking for applicants with a level 4 qualification (e.g. equivalent to NVQ 4 or above, or a degree), as well as experience in leadership roles within the Early Years.

The position is permanent and will commence in September 2019. Working hours start at 8.30am, finishing at 3.30pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. The core role is term time only plus an additional two weeks including the five non-pupil days, but we are keen to know if you would also be interested in any all-year round work should we be able to expand the Nursery provision to operate out of term time during the school holidays. We would like to employ flexible people who could easily work at both Nurseries, but this is not mandatory.

The full-time equivalent salary will be between £20,748 and £23,478. The actual salary will be adjusted to reflect the hours per week and the weeks per year. The pay scale allows for progression within the role in line with our appraisal and professional development processes. Starting salary will depend of experience. There is an option of joining the local government pension scheme, benefitting from a cycle to work scheme and a health benefits package.

Visits to Broadclyst are welcome by prior arrangement, unfortunately we are unable to offer Westclyst visits at this time, while the building is completed.

We are looking for the candidate to start in September and will therefore be interviewing during the holiday period as and when suitable candidates apply.
