We are seeking to appoint a class teacher to work in Key Stage 2 at Yeo Valley Primary School in Barnstaple. The position is fixed term in the first instance from 14th April 2020 to 23rd July 2020. For the right candidate, there will be the opportunity of the contract being extended into the next academic year.

We are looking for an inspiring and professionally thoughtful teacher who must be able to use a range of teaching styles and appropriate strategies to meet the needs of all children. To be a successful candidate you will need to be both creative and passionate about learning. You must be able to teach using a multi-disciplinary approach, using ICT in a fully integrated way as a tool for both teaching and learning, which the school is internationally recognised for.

Cornerstone Academy Trust is responsible for Broadclyst, Westclyst and Yeo Valley Primary Schools and will be opening another new school in the Monkerton area of Exeter in 2020. It utilises its Academy freedoms to deliver an enriched and exciting project-based, problem-solving curriculum. Now is an exciting time to join this growing academy trust, which is internationally recognised for its use of ICT as a tool for both teaching and learning.

Yeo Valley has been sponsored by Cornerstone for the past 12 months. In that time, significant investment has been made in staffing, resources and facilities. We highly recommend that any interested candidate pay us a visit to see for themselves the vast improvements made, and the opportunities now afforded to the pupils.

Broadclyst & Westclyst schools have been rated outstanding by Ofsted, and in addition, Broadclyst is a Microsoft Showcase School. The Trust also runs a Teaching School, an English Hub, Science Hub and Computing Hub and is an approved Academy Sponsor.

Our employees have access to a health scheme, a cycle to work scheme and subsidised meals. Successful candidates will be provided with state-of-the-art IT equipment to help them fulfil their duties.

Visits to the schools are welcome by prior arrangement. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

EARLY YEARS Teacher (with EY Teacher status)

WESTCLYST community primary school

We are looking to recruit an Early Years Teacher with EY Teacher Status. Required as soon as possible, the postholder will be based in our outstanding 60 place Westclyst School Nursery class. Along with the existing Early Years Teacher, the postholder will jointly manage the day to day organisation of the class and line manage the Early Years Practitioners. Your wider peer network will be the Reception teachers, the Early Years Teachers at our other schools and the EYFS phase leader for the Trust who oversees, and line manages the team.

We are looking for an inspiring and professionally thoughtful candidate who must be able to use a range of teaching styles and appropriate strategies to meet the needs of all children. To be the successful candidate you will need to have good experience of working in the Early Years, have an excellent knowledge of the EYFS curriculum and be both creative and passionate about learning. You must have high expectations for children’s outcomes in relation to the Early Learning Goals and be confident to lead a team of Early Years Practitioners to deliver those outcomes.

You will be part of a strong trust-wide EYFS team that work together to create a high-quality provision from 2–5 years of age. Our schools offer an exciting, extended and enriched curriculum and expect all practitioners to fully engage in the provision of this, through the use of the outdoors and in the extended day with the wide range of after-school activities that we offer. Early Years Practitioners

Broadclyst Nursery and the brand-new Westclyst Nursery

The Cornerstone Academy Trust is responsible for Broadclyst, Westclyst and Yeo Valley Primary Schools. With the existing Broadclyst Nursery going from strength to strength, and the brand-new Nursery at Westclyst Primary School, this is an exciting time to join the Trust.

We are recruiting an extended team to help deliver outstanding early years provision at both locations. Currently a 40-place setting, the Westclyst Nursery will soon grow to accommodate 60 children per session. We offer wrap around provision from 8am until 6pm at both locations. We have firm plans to offer an all year-round service, not just term time only. Both settings offer education from 2 years old.

Therefore, we are seeking to recruit dedicated and professional Early Years Practitioners to work alongside our EYFS Teachers and Deputy Leaders to support children in all areas of the Early Years curriculum. You will also assist in the preparation of the learning environment, liaising with parents, maintaining pupil records and carrying out a range of administrative tasks. Relevant experience of working with early years children and relevant qualifications are required (e.g. NVQ level 3 or equivalent or higher).

The positions are permanent and are available immediately. Core working hours are 32.5 per week, starting at 8.30am, finishing at 3.30pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. However, there are opportunities to work an extended day in the before school session and/or after school session from 8am until 9am and 3pm until 6pm. The core role is term time only plus an additional two weeks including the five non-pupil days, but we are keen to know if you would also be interested in any all-year round work should we be able to expand the Nursery provision to operate out of term time during the school holidays. We would like to employ flexible people who could easily work at both Nurseries, but this is not mandatory.

Therefore, within your personal statement your application must state:

Have you your own means of transport to travel between sites if need be?

Would you be able and willing to cover from 8am in the morning?

Would you be able and willing to cover until 6pm in the evenings?

Would you be interested in all year-round work?

The full-time equivalent salary will be between £14,856 and £19,979. The actual salary will be adjusted to reflect the hours per week and the weeks per year. The pay scale allows for progression within the role in line with our appraisal and professional development processes. Starting salary will depend of experience. There is an option of joining the local government pension scheme, benefitting from a cycle to work scheme and a health benefits package.

Visits to either or both Nurseries are welcome by prior arrangement.

An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check is required for these posts. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

Trustee Vacancy - Finance Specialism

The Cornerstone Academy Trust in East Devon is a forward-looking, agile multi academy trust where like-minded schools can collaborate and develop in a local, supportive learning environment with distinctive, extended curriculum opportunities. Broadclyst Community Primary School (Ofsted Outstanding), which became one of the first Academies in the UK in 2010, was the first school in the Trust, and the Trust then opened Westclyst Community Primary School in September 2016. Westclyst, whilst temporarily based on the BCPS site, achieved an Ofsted Outstanding grading on its initial inspection in 2019 and the school has recently moved to its new permanent position in the heart of Westclyst, occupying a state-of-the-art building. The Trust expanded further in January 2019 when Yeo Valley Primary School in Barnstaple joined the MAT as part of a sponsorship agreement and will be opening another Primary School in Monkerton just outside of Exeter in 2020. The Trust is also a Teaching School, as well as being a Science Learning Partnership and an English Hub, providing conferences and learning opportunities for its own staff as well as other schools in the local area and beyond.

The Role
We are looking for a person/people to work with us who share our ethos and commitment to excellence. The applicant should have a current recognised accountancy qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA etc). Experience of working in the education sector is not essential but would be beneficial. Finance meetings are held on a Monday night at Broadclyst School from 5-8pm once a month and the Full Trust Board normally meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 7pm. The commitment would be for around 6 hours per month of meetings with preparation time beforehand. The applicant would need to have a full DBS check. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a multi-award-winning team that serves to provide an education standard “a cut-above” the rest.
