Coffee Shop & Bistro Manager

The Cornerstone Academy Trust is responsible for Broadclyst, Westclyst and Yeo Valley Primary Schools. This is an exciting time to join a growing team within a growing academy trust.

The role of Coffee Shop & Bistro Manager is based within Broadclyst Primary’s Academy Café. We are looking for the right person to manage our busy and vibrant bistro, preparing and managing meals for staff members at lunchtime as well as running the Academy Café which is open to parents and families from 3pm every school day.

Hours of work are 8.30am to 5.30pm with a 30-minute break. You will be employed for 39 weeks per year, which includes 5 non-pupil days.

During the morning, you will prepare for lunchtime service which will include collating staff food orders and stocking up the bistro’s salad bar. You must be good at baking cakes and other treats as this will form a significant part of your role. At lunchtime you will serve staff their meals and drinks which will include a mixture of pre-ordered and instant order. At 3pm you will oversee the opening of the café, which serves hot and cold drinks, snacks, cakes and full meals. The Manager will work alongside a catering assistant to serve the customers. The role will also include general waiting duties such as clearing tables. You will be expected to provide excellent customer service to promote a positive atmosphere to maximise the enjoyment of visitors. You will need to be take payment using an electronic till system and card machine.

The salary for this post is £16,590 per annum (full time equivalent), but this will be lower to reflect the part year working arrangement.

Nursery Plus Teacher required for Yeo Valley Primary School, Barnstaple, Devon

Yeo Valley Primary School is looking to appoint a Nursery Plus Teacher who will work in a specialist team supporting children within schools and early years settings across Braunton, Ilfracombe and part of Barnstaple. Although based at Yeo Valley Primary School, this is predominantly a role that offers outreach to other schools in the area as well as the children of Yeo Valley themselves.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about Early Years teaching and learning to become a member of a specialist team supporting children within schools and early years settings through outreach work, to improve the outcomes of children with additional needs through targeted intervention.

You will need to have at least 5 years’ experience of EYFS practice, be able to support inclusion and provide positive targeted interventions for EYFS children with additional needs. You will also need to demonstrate that you can work creatively and encourage teamwork and collaboration both within the Nursery Plus Team and with the outreach settings.

Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistant at Yeo Valley Primary School, Barnstaple

Cornerstone Academy Trust is looking for an inspiring and professionally thoughtful teaching assistant who has the drive and determination to support the improvement regime in place at the school. Required after Easter, the post is fixed term in the first instance, ending on 31st August 2020. 

Initially based in KS2, you will work alongside the class teacher to support children in all areas of the curriculum. You will also assist in the preparation of the learning environment, liaising with parents, maintaining pupil records and carrying out a range of administrative tasks. Relevant experience of working with children and qualifications are desirable (e.g. NVQ level 2 or equivalent or higher).

The working hours are typically 30 per week, starting at 9.00am, finishing at 3.30pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. The position is term time only.

The salary will be between £14,037 (adjusted for national living wage where applicable) and £16,590 pro rata. This allows for progression within the role in line with our appraisal and professional development processes. The actual salary will be lower to reflect the hours per week and the weeks per year.

This is a wonderful opportunity for the right person to work with a highly dedicated team of Trustees and the academy leadership team. As a multi-academy trust, we are responsible for Broadclyst, Westclyst and Yeo Valley Primary Schools. The location of this position is Broadclyst.

The successful candidate will have the proven ability to be concise and accurate in minute taking. 

Although the majority of work will be within the term time, some work within school holidays may be required. Meetings take place typically from 5pm to 7pm every half term for each of the two schools. Occasionally you will be asked to Clerk meeting that begin earlier or later than these times. Therefore, your availability must offer a certain level of flexibility.

Sous Chef

We are looking to recruit an experienced and qualified Sous Chef to support our Chef here at Cornerstone Academy Trust. Our well-renowned dining service provides meals for Broadclyst, Westclyst and Clyst St Mary Primary Schools’ pupils.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join a growing multi-academy trust as we move towards the opening of new school buildings in Westclyst, and a brand new school in Monkerton in September 2020. The catering team are responsible for the provision of high quality meals for up to 500 pupils and staff daily. We also offer a service to parents through the Academy Café which provides families the chance to enjoy a drink, snack or meal after school.

Initially based at Broadclyst Primary School the post may in time support the kitchens at Westclyst or Monkerton.

The successful candidate will need to be flexible, reliable and creative. We would like to employ someone who enjoys good food and will embrace the school’s aim to deliver a ‘family dining’ experience, with nice home cooked, seasonal food served to the table. Ideally, we wish to employ someone who can also demonstrate skills in baking cakes and treats.

This is a permanent position with a 9 month probationary period. We are wishing the successful candidate to start as soon as possible. The post is Monday to Friday, for 45 hours per week, term time only (38 weeks). The day begins at 8am and finishes at 5.30pm. There is a 30-minute break during the day.

The salary for the post commences at £18,717 pro rata. Once the increased hours per week and the reduced weeks per year are calculated, the actual salary is £18,827.

School Minibus Driver 

 

Required as soon as possible is a School Minibus Driver to be employed on a part time/casual basis. The role will include transporting pupils and staff on educational visits or sporting fixtures and other similar activities. You will be required to drive one of the school's four 17-seater minibuses or our 7-seater car.

You should possess a clean driving licence, and be willing to undertake any necessary training, dependant on the types of vehicle your licence permits you to drive. Any training costs will be funded by the school.

We operate bus runs to and from the Pinhoe, Westclyst and Bradninch areas early in the morning (commencing about 7:30am) and at the end of the school day. Availability at these times would be desirable but not essential. We also use our bus drivers for school trips and sporting activities during the school day.

The post is a zero hours contract where hours of work will be agreed on a mutually acceptable basis as and when the need for work arises, although we have distinct hours of work available every morning (say 7:30 to 9:15) and every afternoon (say 3:15 to 4:30).  The hourly rate for this position is £8.21 plus an element of holiday pay.
