In Year 6, our curriculum is packed with ambitious, hands-on projects that challenge children to think critically, create with purpose, and connect their learning to the world around them. Across the year, pupils engage in a rich blend of subjects, from analysing the disappearance of Richard III’s nephews in our Kings and Queens unit to sculpting bold Picasso-inspired portraits in Art. We delve deep into the wonders of science with practical investigations into the human body and animal adaptation, while in Geography and RE, we explore coastlines, creation stories, and global cultures through meaningful discussion and reflection.
A major highlight of the Year 6 experience is the Global Enterprise Challenge, where pupils form companies, develop real products, and pitch their ideas in a Dragon’s Den-style finale. This cross-curricular project builds confidence, leadership, and financial literacy, and leaves a lasting impression as children apply maths, marketing, teamwork and persuasive writing in a high-stakes, real-world setting.
Each Monday afternoon, our enrichment sessions offer even more opportunities to shine. These sessions are a chance for pupils to discover new passions and grow beyond the classroom curriculum.
With a final residential trip to London and a celebration of independence, collaboration, and creativity in every term, Year 6 is a transformative journey that prepares our children for the next stage of their learning – and life.
Term1
Global Enterprise Challenge: Application, Brand & Design

Global Enterprise Challenge: Dragons Den & Marketing
Immersing themselves within this project, children take their research and products to a Dragon’s Den for further investment. Securing funding, children will produce products and develop a marketing strategy that keeps within a budget. This will culminate with a sale at the Christmas Fayre.

Use more time to calculate final profits, review the success of their companies and make final sales. Presenting all of their outcomes within a Final Report to the Dragons, will highlight the importance of responsibility and teamwork.
Term 4

Using all skills they have developed through coding projects in KS2, Year 6 begin to focus on video game production and Python code to support in this.
Term 5
The Great Debate: Who has been England’s most influential leader?
Having reviewed major monarchs from British history, children will create compelling arguments for which leader has left the most influential mark on the country. This will then become a ‘televised debate’ for other classes in the school to tune in with, voting for the most influential leader along the way.
Term 5
Eggy Challenge: Soapbox Racing
In the final term of the year, a large focus for pupils will be placed on revising their scientific understanding and testing their Design and Technology skills. Children will be tasked with creating a fast travelling soapbox-style car, that can also house and transport an egg safely along a track.
