Our Goat Farm

Explore our wonderful Goat farm, home to four pygmy goats, playing an important role in our Adventurous Curriculum, where hands-on learning comes to life through our Responsibilities Programme.

Students are invited to apply for farm duties, taking on meaningful roles in caring for our animals and environment.

Everyone’s help makes a difference!

As part of our outdoor education programme all children across the trust have the opportunity to participate in the care of our pygmy goats.

The goats live in the allotments at Broadclyst with their care being rotated among different classes each week.

Each week, different classes take turns in looking after the goats, ensuring that all students have the chance to participate.

Responsibilities include feeding them a balanced diet, refreshing their water supply, cleaning their living area, and monitoring their health and behaviour.

Children also get to spend quality time interacting with the goats, learning about their habits, and understanding the importance of animal welfare.

Beyond fostering a sense of responsibility, this experience helps students develop key life skills such as teamwork, empathy, and patience.

It also strengthens their connection with nature and enhances their understanding of sustainable living, as the allotments provide an enriching environment where the goats contribute to the ecosystem.

By incorporating animal care into our curriculum, we aim to inspire a love for the outdoors while teaching valuable lessons about kindness, stewardship, and respect for all living creatures.
